The appellant was appealing against the decision to declare his nomination invalid on the grounds that he did not have the pre-requisite experience at executive level in a club or association as required by the FAZ constitution Article 26 Section 7(iii).

 
GROUNDS OF APPEAL

The appellant joined Chifubu Pirates Executive Committee in December 2003 when the team was in the amateur league.  The Team joined FAZ Division 111 in 2004 and he was elevated to the position of Vice Chairman.  He held the position of Vice Chairman until 2007.  In 2008 he was the Chairman of the Club.  From 2006 he has also been Team Manager for Zamtel F.C.

JUDGEMENT

We have considered the grounds advanced by the appellant and additionally received viva-voce evidence from the appellant.  Upon perusal of the records kept a FAZ Secretariat we are satisfied that the appellant, Mr. Gift Chaipa lacks the necessary experience at full executive level in a club or association.  Our decision is fortified by the fact that the appellant when requested to produce registration cards, he lamentably failed to produce even one for the relevant period.

In the spirit of fairness we graciously extended the period to the following day where by he produced a copy of official’s registration form for 2005.  This substantiates only one year’s experience at executive level in Chifubu Pirates.  This falls short of the requirement of Article 26 Section 7(iii) of the FAZ Constitution.  In the premise we find no merit and the appeal is dismissed.
